Glorious day today! Alfie didn’t need to go to the vet because his stats are coming back to normal and they figured with his progress, maybe it was a good idea for his mental health to give him a break from the IV. Woohoo! Slept in a little, then panicked because I realized I didn’t take any photos of my early morning. But, whatever, not gonna let it stress me out.
Every morning, mom has her downstairs smoke here, at this kitchen window. This scene always invokes all kinds of emotions because I’m so used to seeing my mom and dad here, hanging out of this window, side by side and so in love. To see her there alone makes it so much more real that he’s gone and it hurts.
Mom going through her “cooking scrapbooks,” or so she calls them. In reality, they’re pages and pages ripped out of cookbooks and magazines of tried and true recipes, as well as ones she wants to try. It’s incredible how many she’s made throughout the years. Told ya, my mom’s a master chef and well-read! Winner!
Messy Bun Thursday.
Had a meeting at the bank in Futakotamagawa at 2PM, so we decided to head to the mall around 11:00 AM to have lunch first and do some shopping. Before leaving, I couldn’t find my bank book so I was running all over the house trying to find it, drenched in sweat. That’s why there are no photos before getting out of the house.
Had lunch at a Hawaiian restaurant there, and I got the Mochiko Chicken Plate, while mom got the Ahi Poke Plate. Definitely not legit but delicious none the less. Always makes me want the real deal and feel homesick for Hawaii 🙁
Self-timer selfie on the balcony outside the restaurant. Yes, my leg kick is obnoxious. No, I don’t care.
Picked up a few books and magazines at Kinokuniya Book Store. I got a book called, Everything You Should Know About Japan. Figured I should learn a bit more about my country. I always feel uncomfortable when people ask me questions about the government or culture and I can’t answer them accurately/intelligently.
Took some bathroom shots of the outfit and a !SURPRISED! face selfie. Kind of obsessed with this dress – H&M, baby!
Off to the bank for our meeting – felt a little weird to take a photo of our bank lady.
Lester sent me this photo while he was at work to show me that he was wearing the tie I got for him during our trip to Thailand. Japanese cell phones don’t have the option of turning the shutter sound off the camera (thanks to the perverts of this country), so he has to “cough” or “sneeze” whenever he takes a selfie in public – what a goofball.
Took a trip to stop by grandma’s again after we were done. Goofy little lady, my grandma is. Love to see her smile.
This is Vicky, our helper. She’s been coming to clean our house since I was in 1st grade – basically part of the family. She comes every Thursday and is probably the woman with the kindest heart. She works in Japan to save money to help her family in the Philippines. She put almost 5 kids through college (NOT her own), and built a house for all her family. Love her with all my heart.
Dinner is SERVED. Blue cheese pasta and seared salmon and avocado salad. #dontwakemeifimdreaming
L had a work event to go to tonight so it’s just mama and me. Not a super attractive photo but at least I got her to cooperate.
Didn’t cook sooooo dishes time for me.
Stayed up til about midnight before passing out while listening to some podcasts. L came home around 2 AM – didn’t hear him at all. Sneaky like a ninja. So that’s a wrap from Thursday – 3 days to go! Looking forward to this weekend 🙂

Woohoo, Filipinos represent! I’m always proud of the Filipino care and the importance we put in helping our families – even the second and third-degree relatives. It’s something that I really love about our culture 🙂
