After an unannounced hiatus I’m back and blogging every day, sharing with you a peak into my week. Since I last blogged, a lot has happened but I’ll get to covering all that in later blog posts! As of right now, I am embarking on Ali Edwards’ project: Week in the Life. This is my first time with this project, and I am STOKED. I’m mainly using my Canon PowerShot SX700 HS and my iPhone 6 for screenshots and random in the moment shots. This week is pretty uneventful, but we’ll see how this goes!
I’ve noticed that this set of photos really sets the scene of my life – lots of photos of rooms. I work at home, so my week is mostly spent here. My dog is also unwell so I anticipate spending a lot of time here throughout the week.
How my morning starts every non-gym morning (during the summer). My alarm goes off 3 times. 6:30 AM, 6:45 AM, and finally at 7:00 AM. I finally open my eyes at 7:00 AM, after L has already made his way to the bathroom to get ready for his work day. I scroll through my e-mail and social media accounts before making my way to the balcony to wish my mom a good morning.
Usually, we sit on that white chair while we smoke and chat, but this morning it was pouring rain and absolutely miserable. Instead, I grabbed the ashtray and sat on the doorstep. Mom wasn’t even out on the balcony ha.
Took a screenshot of this text from L – I missed documenting him leaving this morning, oops – about his bus to the station hitting a tree! How crazy!
Documented mom and I both sitting in our respective “areas” putting on our make-up in the morning. She sits at the kitchen counter, while I sit at my scrapping/make-up desk.
Also took a screenshot of one of my favorite non-scrappy podcasts. If you’re a fan of creepy stories, this podcast is SO amazing. HIGHLY recommended.
Took a post-makeup iPhone selfie with my new favorite selfie app #noshame
Documented my two favorite rooms in my house – my study + and my bedroom, well, it’s bay window. The study is a hot mess right now but that’s the point of this project, right? Real life. It’s messy. Spent some time in these two rooms, working on my school, and then working on my travel album before heading out to lunch.
Oh yes, #mysckitishere. Didn’t have time to go through it before heading out for lunch, but you betcha I was twitching to dig in.
Lunch at our neighborhood ramen restaurant – David’s. Holy cow y’all, this place is absolutely amazing and my mom and I are obsessed with their ramen. Because today was so humid and miserable, we decided to get cold chicken ramen. Ramen is the best comfort food, and this spot’s ramen always makes me so happy. Not sure which photos to choose; might do a collage but HOW CUTE IS MY MOM?
After lunch, my neighbor’s daughter brought her baby over. She’s 7 months old and the most precious little girl. Can’t get over how adorable she is. I grew up with her mama, who’s about 3 or 4 years older than me. Can’t believe she’s a mom now. These kinds of things really make you realize how fast time flies!
Said goodbye to the neighbors, then mom settled into her favorite chair and turned on the TV to crime show marathons. She started this while L and I were on vacation in Thailand because it was too hot in Tokyo to leave the house and it’s stuck…and she’s dragged me down that black hole with her. Reminds me of when I was in Hawaii and I’d watch Law & Order SVU marathons while writing papers, or cutting and laminating materials for the classroom. I’m so sad there’s no SVU on here, but I guess Criminal Minds, CSI, and Bones will do 🙂
Last week, my dog had to be hospitalized as he had ingested (something) poison/toxic for him – skyrocketing the numbers for his liver; basically liver failure. This was so terrifying for our family, as Alfie is the most energetic playful 5 year old Miniature Schnauzer. After taking him to the vet every day, his numbers started lowering and he started feeling….better until Sunday. He was convulsing and shaking, breathing really heavily and scaring us again. We decided to take him in again, where they measured a really high fever. He was hospitalized again – but on today we got good news that his fever had come down and his convulsions had stopped so we could bring him home. Phew. Our home is not the same without this little furball here. He’s definitely not as energetic as before, since he’s still getting IVs every day, but just his presence makes all the difference in the world.
Mom in the kitchen making dinner, and Alfie following her every step, refusing to miss ANY action in the kitchen. We take turns making dinner, but I (obviously) love it when she cooks. Nothing beats moms food. She’s the best cook in the whole entire world IMHO.
Dinner is served! The most tender ginger pork and a salad. Plus a selfie with mom since L was out playing basketball. Also, note the super cute photo bomber #whenyouseeit
Not a super flattering photo (with my belly resting on the counter bahaha) but captured myself on dishes duty. Whoever does the cooking is relieved of that obligation, so while mom caught up with her post-dinner Criminal Minds episode, I watched some Japanese drama while doing dishes by hand. We stopped using the dish washer a while ago because we realized how much electricity and water it used so we reserve it for when we have guests over. Pain in the butt but gotta save that moo-lah!
My best friend in Australia sent me this adorable photo of her dogs and a little note for Alfie. She moved back when we were in the 10th grade (soooooo that’s almost 11 years ago?) but we have kept in touch, visiting each other back and forth. The last time I saw her was last October – FOR HER WEDDING! I love our friendship and value it so much, I’m so blessed to have her in my life.
L came home from basektball around 9:30, heated up his plate of dinner and joined us in the living room. He was so stoked to see Alfie with a little more energy. Caught him on his phone (as usual). He has a bad habit of getting distracted by random thoughts that pop into head and he HAS to look it up in that moment (today, it was the Thai Royal Family….don’t ask). We spent the rest of the evening hanging out in the living room, watching TV and just enjoying our time together.
The end of my night is always the same. L ALWAYS beats me to the bathroom to shower and get ready for bed so I usually take that time to finish whatever project I left mid-way, or browse my phone until he gets out. It was late, so I nagged him to make it quick. Finally, went to sleep at almost 1 AM but so happy I documented so much of our day! Excited for day 2 – here goes nothing!

Really enjoyed this Tina! 🙂 I can totally relate about Lester’s ‘bad habit’ HAHAHA it often happens to me as well. Last time, I slept at around 3am reading about criminals that were sent to mental hospitals and what happened to them. I blame the internet HAHAHA.
And your little Alfie (+ how those Australian dogs look so concerned!) is so かわいい! Hoping for a speedy recovery for your furball!
Looking forward to tomorrow’s post 😉
