The day finally arrived!! L and I were so excited to go to Koh Samui – we googled photos non-stop before our trip and it looked absolutely dreamy. To be perfectly honest, we were kind of really over Phuket. Maybe it was the fact that we didn’t get to see all of it, but it was just too raunchy and full of partiers that it wasn’t the relaxing vacation we had hoped for. We woke up early in the morning, packed our bags, ordered in a breakfast via room service and decided to spend our morning at the beach that our photographer Jaran took us to for our engagement shoot – Paradise Beach. Absolutely beautiful. We arrived early enough that there weren’t that many people, and we got awesome beach chairs right by the water.
Thailand is notorious for the stray dogs out and about the town. This little guy was pretty friendly – just walked by us wagging his tail with a big smile on his face. Or so it looked like 🙂
The emperor of fruits gets his coconut!
Really, L? Really?
So glad we got to do this – it was probably the only day we really spent at the beach and I’m such an ocean fiend. We just didn’t want to go anywhere near Patong Beach. If you’ve ever been to Hawaii, it’s the equivalent to Waikiki Beach and I am not a fan. Paradise Beach was much less crowded and CLEAN, since I think there are a group of maintenance people taking care of it. Such a good last day in Phuket!
One last photo of our hotel before heading to the airport
Got overly excited when we found a Dunkin Donuts at the airport! As you can tell by L’s face, we were quite excited to devour some donuts.
Our tiny plane! Won’t deny that I was quite nervous for the short flight… Something about small airplanes terrify me, but luckily all went well. There was quite a bit of turbulence when I said a few “Our Father”s and “Hail Mary”s but it all worked out so thank you Jesus.
Bye-bye Phuket!
In-flight “meal”
RAINBOW!!!!
Hello Koh Samui!
We made it!!!!!
FISH IN THE BOYS BATHROOM?! UNREAL! (Yes, L took this photo)
As promised, our BnB condo picked us up at the airport. Luckily, we were located 10 minutes from the airport so the ride was quick and short but exciting nonetheless! Our Air BnB was less than impressive if I’m being honest – but I suppose it was to be expected. We were spoiled at our previous location so it’s understandable that we were bummed when it was quite dated and had a few questionable areas (i.e. the bathroom….yikes). Best part of it was the staff – everyone was so friendly, helpful and kind. They made the stay so much better than what it would have been without them.
We decided to wander into town to get dinner after settling into our room. It was quite a long walk, but we stumbled upon this local restaurant and decided to try it out after being unable to deny the scent from the BBQ happening in the front of the restaurant. L was adventurous and got some BBQ + Thai yellow curry, while I stuck to my tried and true Phat Si-o (Pad Sew). SO delicious. After eating and feeling quite exhausted, we hitched a ride back home on a songthaew (Koh Samui’s public shared transportation). We liked it so much more than Phuket’s tuk tuk’s, where the drivers are super aggressive and obnoxious. In Samui, the drivers just honk at you (not super loud) and if you want to hop on, you just flag them down like a cab. Anyway, we got back a little passed midnight and crashed immediately. Not a bad travel day, when you’re traveling with someone you love 🙂 We had such a fantastic time in Phuket and Koh Samui? Even better. Stay tuned!
